I know God loves me because I feel it...I feel Him. I also know it when he disciplines me (as painful as sometimes that is). God is pretty 'in my face' about His presence. I can either 'hear' His voice in my ear or He uses others' to remind me whose I am and the depth of His love for me.
I've also learned that at times when I choose to separate myself from Him, his voice may grow a bit fainter, but I still hear it.
